Adults

  • Manage depression, anxiety and stress
  • Improve coping skills
  • Cope better during changes and challenges
  • Improve self-esteem
  • Get in touch with what’s important to you
  • Improve relationships
  • Change patterns of thinking and behaviour

I offer adults space to talk about what’s happening in their life, whether it be at home, work, personally, or in relationships. People often attend therapy to cope with changes in their lives (e.g. illness or loss in the family; changes at work; relationship breakdowns or situational crisis). Or perhaps you are unhappy or simply not feeling like yourself and are unsure why and wish to enjoy life more. Your friends, partner or workplace may have suggested that therapy could be of benefit for you. I assist people to learn to cope better with stress, anxiety, worry, depression, grief, anger, life transitions, parenting, assertiveness and communication in relationships. I enjoy helping people change long term patterns that develop from early family life or life experiences e.g. fear of abandonment, putting others first, perfectionism and many more. Honour yourself by thinking, acting and living in a way that aligns with your values and who you want to be

Perinatal Counselling

(Counselling during pregnancy and during the first year of your child’s life)

Often in pregnancy and during the first year after the birth of a child, people can find themselves experiencing an exacerbation of previous mental health issues or developing mental health issues. It can be a difficult transition time of learning new roles and coping skills, in the context of sleep deprivation and hormonal factors. Some people find themselves isolated and don’t have the support network needed during this period.
Counselling during this time can be for:

  • Anxiety, depression or stress during pregnancy.
  • Anxiety, depression or stress during the first year after your child’s birth.
  • Processing birth trauma.
  • Support when things haven’t gone as hoped (e.g. you had a different birth experience, you were unwell in the postnatal period, or your baby had health issues).
  • Preparing for a second / subsequent child.
  • Adjusting to this time in your life and the changes in freedoms, identity, roles and routines. Finding a new balance and developing your confidence over time.
  • Processing your own childhood trauma if this comes up for you during this time.
  • Knowing your values as a parent and acting in ways that align with this.

Tailored Treatment

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (changing your thinking and behavior patterns)
  • Schema Therapy (changing long term patters of thinking and behavior that you may have learnt from a young age and which no longer work for you)
  • ACT Therapy (including Mindfulness strategies and finding out what your values are)
  • Fertility counselling
  • Pregnancy counselling
  • Parenting
  • Expressive and play based therapies (including sand tray work and drawing)
  • Grief counselling
