About Counselling

I believe people have the capacity to change, grow and improve their relationships. It is helpful to have support and a sounding board and new ideas and strategies to fast track this and to help you stay on track. If what you’re doing isn’t working for you, you’ve got nothing to lose by trying something different.  Some people think psychology and counselling is only for people who are mentally ill but a lot of people benefit from psychology at a range of times in their lives. People who are well adjusted may simply want support to cope during a stressful time in their lives (e.g. personally, at home or at work) or to improve their well-being and become the best version of themselves that they can be. You do not need a diagnosed mental illness or a mental health care plan in order to access my services. Practicing strategies discussed in session outside of the session increases your chances of success. As does attending regularly for the first few sessions and checking in, even monthly, to stay on track after that. We will work together to help you reach your therapy goals. Like most new things, most people are a little anxious on the first session but say that they soon feel comfortable and are glad they attended therapy for the support, clarity and the techniques gained. I will do my best to put you at ease.

About Me

I started studying psychology in 2000 with the goal of helping people better their lives. I completed my Bachelor of Honours (with first class psychology) in 2004 and became a registered psychologist in 2007.

My career has granted me the opportunity to work with a range of clientele, including children from 4yrs of age through to older adults, and presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, work stress, relationship stress, changing lifelong patterns, dealing with life transitions, parenting and managing the stress of infertility.

I have two young children and since becoming a mum have become interested in providing psychological treatments to pregnant women and women and men adjusting to having a new baby and the demands that this involves. I am also a contractor for Gidget Foundation Australia, providing counselling support to expectant parents and parents in the first year of their child's life.

I am committed to ongoing training in different therapy techniques and use a range of therapy techniques that have been proven to be effective and are tailored to you. I am down to earth and caring and aim to create a relaxed and positive therapy setting.

I am passionate about helping you to improve your life and look forward to working with you.
